PARISH
ROAD CLOSURES

Concerns have been raised with regards to the forthcoming road closures.

Woolsery Parish Council has liaised with Highways with regards to concerns raised.    The response from Highways states:

"The closure and diversion route are advertised on https://one.network/  which diverts traffic to Powlers Piece, Land Cross, Bideford, A39, Bucks Cross.

When planning and approving closures the route used must be of the same category road or higher and able to deal with the same size/volume of traffic which would normally use the carriageway. With the section being closed being a category 6 local distributor road the similar carriageway have to be used.

As for using lights on Chapel Street by traffic lights this would involve sending traffic from a category 6 road to a narrow category 9 road and would not be supported by the local authority. Further issues would also occur with any larger vehicles travelling Northbound trying to turn right at the top of Chapel Street."

The planned relaxation for indoor mixing rules, have now been cut from five days to Christmas Day only.

We have worked hard to protect our Parish, let us all continue to respect the rules, stay safe and alert.

If you have concerns, please either contact Woolsery Parish Clerk (07917354619) or Torridge District Council (01237 48700).
